General Safety Guidelines

Make sure to follow any additional safety guidelines provided in the manual while performing this calibration task.

1. Read the Manual

2. Wear Appropriate Safety Gear:

  • Always use safety glasses, hearing protection, and appropriate dust masks or respirators.

3. Avoid Loose Clothing and Jewelry:

  • Wear fitted clothing and avoid any dangling jewelry or objects that could get caught in the saw.

4. Disconnect Power:

  • Always disconnect the table saw from the power source before performing maintenance or repairs.

Aligning the Table T-slot Parallel with the Blade

To ensure precise cuts and optimal performance, it is crucial that the table T-slot is aligned parallel to the blade. Follow these steps to check and adjust the alignment:

1. Measure Initial Distance:

  • Place a combination square in the table T-slot and measure the distance from the back edge of the blade to the T-slot. Make sure to record this measurement.

2. Pivot the Blade:

  • Carefully pivot the blade forward 180 degrees to the opposite position.

3. Measure Again:

  • Using the same point on the blade as before, re-measure the distance from the blade to the T-slot.

4. Compare Measurements:

  • The difference between the two measurements should be less than 0.2mm to ensure proper alignment. Any discrepancy greater than this can affect the accuracy of your cuts. Refer to Figure 23.

The Harvey Alpha HW110LC 2HP and HW110TC 3HP table saw cabinets both have four (4) M10 screws on each corner securing the cast iron main table to the cabinet as well as two M5 set screws installed on two opposite corners front and back (front-left/back-right or front-right/back-left).

The (4) M10 screws function to hold the top to the cabinet in a calibrated position whereas the two (2) M5 set screws are used to help keep the cast iron tabletops from shifting while in transit and will need to be removed when adjusting the position of the cast iron main table.

If the M5 set screws (A) on opposite front and back corners are not accessible at first due to the washers covering them, loosen the M10 screws (B) completely and remove the washers to gain access to set screws (A).

After aligning the t-slots parallel with the blade, reinstall the four (4) M10 screws (B) on each corner and set the two (2) M5 set screws (A) aside or discard.
