Electrical Safety — Read Before Servicing

  • Disconnect and lock out power. Unplug the machine or switch off the main breaker, then apply an approved lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) device.

  • Verify ZERO voltage with a meter at the motor terminals before touching any conductors.

  • Discharge stored energy. Wait at least 5 minutes for capacitors or VFD DC buses to drain.

  • Wear proper PPE (insulated gloves, safety eyewear) and keep the work area dry.

  • Never work alone. Have a second trained person nearby in case of an emergency.

Replacing the Blower Motor & Fan Assembly

Machine type: Gyro Air Series G-800 (Non-Pro Version)
Replacement motor and blower: Factory-supplied equivalent

1. Remove the Side Cover

  1. Remove the 14 panel screws securing the side cover.

  2. Lift off the cover and set it aside.

2. Mark the Fan Base

  1. With a marker, trace a reference line around the perimeter of the fan base on the base plate.

  2. Remove the six bolts in the fan base (see illustration).

  3. Remove the two screws securing the acoustic foam plate above the fan and remove the foam plate.

3. Remove the Bolt Securing the top of the Blower Assembly

  1. Remove the fixing bolt at the top of the fan housing.

4. Disconnect Motor Wiring

  1. Remove the four screws on the motor-junction-box cover and take off the cover.

  2. Label and disconnect the motor leads.

  3. Pull the wires out through the cable gland.

**Important: Steps 5.1 through 9.1 are for cases when changing the motor and/or the fan ONLY. Skip to STEP 9.2 if you are replacing the complete Blower and Motor Assembly as a pre-assembled unit.**

5. Loosen the Fan Hub

  1. Jam the fan blade with a soft-jaw tool to prevent rotation.

  2. Remove the screw securing the fan hub to the motor shaft.

6. Remove the Motor

  1. Take out the four motor-mount screws and attempt to slide the motor free.

  2. If the shaft is seized in the fan hub, proceed to Step 7.

7. Release a Stuck Shaft

  1. Thread the hex-head puller screw (supplied by Harvey) into the motor shaft.

  2. Insert the two side screws into the threaded holes on the fan hub.

  3. Use a wrench to turn the center puller screw clockwise; this pushes the motor out of the hub.

8. Install the New Motor

  1. Slide the replacement motor into the fan hub.

  2. Thread the supplied tie-rod through the blower and into the motor shaft.

  3. Turn the center nut until the end of the shaft sits flush with the fan hub shoulder.

  4. Remove the tie-rod and reinstall the shaft setscrew.

9. Reassemble (Reverse Order)

  1. Secure the motor with its four mounting screws (only applies if not replacing the blower as a complete assembly).

  2. Reconnect the motor leads in the junction box and replace the cover.

  3. Re-install the blower assembly, acoustic foam, blower-base screws, and top fixing screw.

    1. Note: When installing the fan, loosely tighten the four (4) bolts at the base of the blower assembly, then tighten the upper three (3) bolts until the base of the blower aligns with the marked base perimeter line (Step 2.1), and then tighten all of the fasteners fully.

  4. Replace the side cover and its 14 screws.

10. Test

  1. Remove all tools, clear the area, and restore power.

  2. Run the blower for 2–3 minutes; check for vibration or abnormal noise.

  3. Confirm that machine performance is restored.

The replacement is complete.
