Electrical Safety — Read Before Servicing
+
Disconnect and lock out power. Unplug the machine or switch off the main breaker, then apply an approved lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) device before beginning any work.
+
Disconnect the machine from power and allow a minimum of 10 minutes for internal capacitors in the VFD to fully discharge. Always verify voltage has dissipated using a properly rated multimeter at the motor terminals before touching any conductors.
+
Wear proper PPE — insulated gloves and safety eyewear — and keep the work area dry.
+
Never work alone. Have a second trained person nearby in case of an emergency.
Which Path Applies to You?
A
Replacing motor and/or fan only: Follow Steps 1 through 10 in full.
B
Replacing the complete blower and motor assembly (pre-assembled): Follow Steps 1–4, then skip directly to Step 9.2.
Replacement Steps
1
Remove the Side Cover
1
Remove the 14 panel screws securing the side cover.
2
Lift off the cover and set it aside.
Step 1 — Side Cover Removal

2
Mark the Fan Base
1
With a marker, trace a reference line around the perimeter of the fan base on the base plate. This line is critical for correct reassembly alignment in Step 9.
2
Remove the six bolts in the fan base.
3
Remove the two screws securing the acoustic foam plate above the fan, then remove the foam plate.
Step 2 — Fan Base Bolts & Reference Line

3
Remove the Top Fixing Bolt

Remove the fixing bolt at the top of the blower housing.

Step 3 — Top Blower Housing Fixing Bolt

4
Disconnect Motor Wiring
1
Remove the four screws on the motor junction box cover and take off the cover.
2
Label and disconnect the motor leads before removing.
3
Pull the wires out through the cable gland.
Step 4 — Motor Junction Box & Wiring

Steps 5 through 9.1 apply only when replacing the motor and/or fan individually. If you are replacing the complete blower and motor assembly as a pre-assembled unit, skip directly to Step 9.2.

5
Loosen the Fan Hub
1
Jam the fan blade with a soft-jaw tool to prevent rotation.
2
Remove the screw securing the fan hub to the motor shaft.
Step 5 — Fan Hub Screw Location

6
Remove the Motor
1
Take out the four motor-mount screws and attempt to slide the motor free.
2
If the shaft is seized in the fan hub, proceed to Step 7.
Step 6 — Motor Mount Screw Locations

7
Release a Stuck Shaft

Only required if the motor shaft is seized in the fan hub.

1
Thread the hex-head puller screw (supplied by Harvey) into the motor shaft.
2
Insert the two side screws into the threaded holes on the fan hub.
3
Use a wrench to turn the center puller screw clockwise — this pushes the motor out of the hub.
Step 7 — Puller Screw Setup

8
Install the New Motor
1
Slide the replacement motor into the fan hub.
2
Thread the supplied tie-rod through the blower and into the motor shaft.
3
Turn the center nut until the end of the shaft sits flush with the fan hub shoulder.
4
Remove the tie-rod and reinstall the shaft setscrew.
Step 8 — New Motor Installation with Tie-Rod

9
Reassemble (Reverse Order)
9.1
Secure the motor with its four mounting screws. (Applies only if not replacing the blower as a complete assembly.)
9.2
Reconnect the motor leads in the junction box, matching your labels, and replace the junction box cover.
9.3
Re-install the blower assembly, acoustic foam, blower-base screws, and top fixing bolt.
Alignment note: When installing the fan, loosely tighten the four (4) base bolts first, then tighten the upper three (3) bolts until the base of the blower aligns with the reference line marked in Step 2, and then tighten all fasteners fully.
9.4
Replace the side cover and secure it with the 14 screws.
Test
Remove all tools and clear the area, then restore power.
Run the blower for 2–3 minutes and check for vibration or abnormal noise.
Confirm that machine performance is restored.
The replacement is complete.
