To adjust the squareness of the bandsaw table surface relative to the back edge (spine) of the blade, follow the instructions below to achieve a precise 90-degree alignment.
Proper squareness is especially important when making curved cuts on taller workpieces, as it ensures consistent blade contact from top to bottom. If the blade is not square to the table—meaning the spine is angled—it can lead to uneven tracking through the cut and potential blade twisting at either the top or bottom of the workpiece.
Before performing any maintenance, adjustments, or repairs on your bandsaw, please read and follow the safety guidelines below to help ensure your safety and prevent equipment damage.
General Safety Precautions:
1. Disconnect Power
Always unplug the bandsaw from the power source before performing any maintenance or adjustments. This helps prevent accidental startup and reduces the risk of electric shock or injury.
2. Wait for All Moving Parts to Stop
Ensure the blade and all moving components have come to a complete stop before starting any maintenance work.
3. Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Wear safety glasses and cut-resistant gloves when handling the blade or working around sharp edges.
4. Keep the Work Area Clean
Maintain a clutter-free workspace. Loose tools or materials can create tripping hazards or fall into moving components.
5. Refer to the Manual
Always consult your bandsaw’s user manual for machine-specific instructions and specifications.
6. Use Proper Tools
Only use appropriate, well-maintained tools for all adjustments. Avoid makeshift tools or overtightening fasteners.
Maintenance Disclaimer:
The instructions provided are intended for use by individuals who are familiar with bandsaw operation and basic mechanical maintenance. If you are not comfortable performing any of the steps described, please consult a qualified technician or contact Harvey Customer Support for assistance.
Failure to follow these instructions or perform maintenance properly could result in personal injury, damage to the machine, or voiding of the warranty.
Tools Needed:
- 5mm Hex Wrench (for Set Screws #427)
- Adjustable Wrench or similar tool (for Hex Cap Bolts #414)
Step 1:
Tilt the table to a 45-degree angle to make it easier to access the three Hex Cap Bolts (#414). Loosen these bolts to allow adjustment of the Set Screws (#427), which are used to fine-tune the gap at the support frame until the table surface is square to the back edge (spine) of the blade.
Step 2:
Using a 5mm Hex Wrench, adjust the two Set Screws (#427) as needed until the table surface is perfectly square (90 degrees) to the back edge or spine of the blade (clockwise to tighten the set screws and raise the table, counter-clockwise to lower it).
Step 3:
Once the Set Screws (#427) are adjusted, verify that both the table and fence are properly aligned with the blade. Then, securely tighten the three Hex Cap Bolts (#414) to lock the adjustment in place.
