Gyro Air G-700: Dust Bin Leak Detection and Adjustments

Created by Gabriel Izzo, Modified on Fri, 29 Mar at 8:48 AM by Gabriel Izzo

Below are a set of instructions that can be used to help detect and troubleshoot leaks primarily related to the dust bin seals.

What you'll need:

∙ Metric #4 hex wrench

∙ Pliers/wrench to adjust the nut on the door latch. (Metric #10)

∙ 8.5"x11" sheet of printer paper

Procedures for leak detection of dust bin

1. Remove the bin from the dust collector and check the dust bin to ensure rubber gasket is in good/working condition and it's seated on the bin properly.

2. Reinstall bin into Gyro Air. Using a sheet of paper, place it on top of the edge of bin and latch the bin  securely to the machine. With the bin secured, try to pull the sheet of paper to check the gap  between the bin & top of the machine.

- If the paper moves/slides out, then we will need to adjust the front latch (See Step 3).  - If the paper is secured and does not slide out, then skip step 3.

Note: The paper should not slide when pulled upon. Check each side of the bin to ensure the bin is  sealed on both sides properly.

3. To adjust the front latch, you will need a metric #10 wrench or a pair of pliers. Loosen/unscrew the  two (2) lock nuts at the bottom of the latch and set them aside while you make necessary adjustments.  Next, you will adjust the four (4) hex nuts to make sure the latch secures the bin tightly into place.

Repeat step 2 if needed to ensure proper adjustments.

NOTE: Once the latch is correctly seated, make sure the four (4) hex nuts are secured. Reinstall the two  (2) lock nuts and secure them against hex nuts to ensure nuts do not come loose.

4. In order to access and check the back side of the bin for leakage, you'll need to remove the back panel of the dust collector. Using metric #10 hex wrench, remove the 4 screws indicated below.

5. Prop the front door panel slightly upward, so that the bin slides partially outward and rests on the  hinge section of the panel. This will help greatly when doing a paper test on the back side of the bin.

6. From the back side of the dust collector, place a sheet of paper along the edge of the bin. If needed, fold  the sheet of paper in half and rest it upon the edge (to prevent paper from falling). Afterwards, push  the bin back into locking position and secure the front latch.

7. Similar to step 2, pull the sheet of paper to see if it will slide out. If the bin is seated properly, the sheet of  paper should not move or slide out. Check both corners of the bin to ensure each side is seated  correctly.

- If paper does slide, then you'll need to make adjustments to the rollers (see step 8 for details). - If paper does not slide, then you are finished! (Skip to step 9 for reassembly)

8. To adjust the two (2) rollers on the back of the bin, you'll need to remove the bin to allow some room to  work.

You'll need a metric #4 hex wrench to slightly loosen the bolt securing the roller to the bin. Since the  shaft of the roller is eccentric (or offset), you will rotate the roller to make the height adjustment. Secure the  bolt and slide bin back into the machine. Repeat step 6 & 7 to check whether the bin is seated correctly.

(Repeat Step 8 if needed) After adjustment, make sure the bolts for rollers are secured and slide the bin back  into the machine. Latch the bin and ensure it is properly secured.

9. Run the machine and visually inspect for any signs of dust leak. If none, then you are nearly done!  Reassemble the back panel with the four (4) screws using a metric #4 hex wrench. Now you are done  and ready!
