Harvey Alpha Series Table Saws: Riving Knife Removal

Created by Gabriel Izzo, Modified on Thu, 3 Jul at 2:30 PM by Gabriel Izzo

If you're experiencing difficulty removing or installing the riving knife on your saw, it is usually due to one of the following two scenarios:

  1. Riving Knife Locking Pin Not Fully Released:
Ensure the locking pin is fully disengaged. If it is not properly unlocked, the riving knife will remain locked in position and cannot be removed.

  2. Overtightened Mounting Bolt on Riving Knife Bracket:
If the locking pin is not the issue, the problem may be that the cap screw on the riving knife bracket is overtightened.

✅ Recommended Steps:

  • Ensure the saw is completely powered OFF and unplugged.

  • Using an Allen wrench, slightly loosen the cap screw located in the center of the riving knife bracket by 1/4 to 1/2 turn.

  • Try removing and reinstalling the riving knife to see if the adjustment resolved the issue.

Refer to the image below for the exact location of the cap screw.

Loosening this screw slightly helps relieve pressure on the riving knife bracket, making it easier to slide the knife in and out during changes.
