Thrust bearings can develop a groove from normal use as the back of the blade wears into the outer sleeve or jacket of the bearing during cuts.
Around the bearing, we install a thick bushing made of a softer metal, which helps absorb excess heat, and keeps the blade from being worn down. It is perfectly normal for the chrome coating to come off after some use, and should not negatively impact performance.
