Alpha HW615/Ambassador C14 Band Saws: Thrust Bearing Wear - What to Expect

Created by Gabriel Izzo, Modified on Fri, 20 Jun at 4:11 PM by Gabriel Izzo

Over time, thrust bearings may develop a visible groove due to normal use. This occurs as the back of the blade gradually wears into the outer sleeve or jacket of the bearing during cutting operations.

To help manage heat and protect the blade, each bearing is surrounded by a thick bushing made from a softer metal. This bushing is designed to absorb excess heat and reduce direct wear on the blade itself.

It is completely normal for the chrome coating on the bearing to wear off after some use. This cosmetic change does not affect performance and does not indicate a defect.
