Harvey Alpha Series Table Saws: Dovetail & Worm Gear Trunnions Compared

A dovetail table saw is part of the trunnion design that controls the elevation of the blade. The “dovetail” of the trunnion assembly helps keep the blade inline when raising/lower, whereas there is a slight pivot movement seen in normal trunnion design. The advantage of a trunnion design is accuracy, smoothness and less vibration.
