Why does the orange handle insert move on Try Squares?

Created by Gabriel Izzo, Modified on Thu, 4 Apr at 10:22 AM by Gabriel Izzo

The orange insert in the handles of our squares is a creative design by our founder - John Economaki. The TS Try Square inserts are loose by design and this is not a defect but rather the way John designed them and is intentional.

The try square handles are press fitted together; in the event that the square ever needs adjustment, the orange piece serves as a way to pry the handle apart to make the adjustment. John also wanted to insert a little bit of his personality into his tools and thought that the orange handle being able to rattle was whimsical and fun for woodworkers to use.
