What is TiN (Titanium Nitride)? What are the benefits?

TiN (Titanium Nitride) is a hard ceramic material used in coating for other metal to help improve the properties of the metal.

TiN coating is used on the cast iron tables to help harden the surface and make the table more resistant to oxidization and rust. Cast iron is a soft and porous material which makes it prone to rust/oxidize easily without proper care.

TiN coating can be especially helpful in areas where there is higher humidity or shops without climate control to manage the moisture of the air as well as locations closer to bodies of water that may have higher levels of moisture in the air which can lead to the need for more frequent maintenance of regular uncoated cast iron tables to prevent rust or corrosion.

Also, TiN provides a gold color appearance which makes the table quite visually appealing while simultaneously helping to protect the cast iron and prevent rusting.

How long does the coating last?

Depends on usage and care for the table top.

What are the differences between TiN and Plain finish version?

There are no differences in the two version of the same saw model besides the finish for the cast iron table. For example the HW110S-36 and HW110S-36P, the “P” stands for plain finish.

Is TiN (Titanium Nitride) available for the Ambassador series?

TiN is only available for our Alpha series.
