What Does U0.01 Mean?
Communication Fault

The U0.01 code indicates a communication issue between the display screen and the inverter (VFD). This is most commonly caused by a loose, damaged, or faulty Ethernet (RJ45) cable connection — either at the rear of the screen or at the front of the inverter inside the electrical box.

Why the Screen Still Powers On

The Ethernet cable contains 8 pins — some deliver power and others handle data transmission. If certain data pins lose contact, the screen may still power on but will be unable to exchange information with the inverter, triggering the U0.01 error.

Electrical Safety — Read Before Proceeding
+
Disconnect the machine from power and allow a minimum of 10 minutes for internal capacitors in the VFD to fully discharge before accessing the electrical box. Always verify voltage has dissipated using a properly rated multimeter before touching any internal components.
+
Turn the main power switch to the OFF position before removing the electrical box cover — it will be locked if the switch is ON.
+
Only handle the Ethernet cable — do not touch, modify, or disturb any other wiring or components inside the electrical box.
Troubleshooting Steps
1
Inspect the Screen Connection
1
Remove the four screws securing the display screen and gently remove it from its mount.
2
Visually inspect the RJ45 (Ethernet) port on the back of the screen for visible damage or looseness.
3
Disconnect and firmly reconnect the Ethernet cable, ensuring a firm click when reseating the connector. Inspect the cable for any visible damage.
4
With the system powered on, gently wiggle the connection while watching the screen.
If the display changes from U0.01 to a frequency reading (e.g., 40.00 Hz), the issue is a weak or intermittent connection — the cable likely needs to be reseated or replaced.
2
Inspect the Inverter Connection
1
Turn the main power switch to OFF and unplug the machine from the power source. Allow 10 minutes for VFD capacitors to discharge.
2
Remove the rear panel enclosing the power switch, then remove the screws on the electrical box cover.
3
Inside the electrical box, locate the inverter (usually on the left-hand side). Inspect the Ethernet cable connection at the front of the inverter.
4
Disconnect and firmly reconnect the cable, ensuring it is fully seated with no visible damage.
5
Turn the power switch stem back to the ON position using a wrench or appropriate tool. Power on the machine and check if the screen now displays a normal frequency reading instead of U0.01.
A normal frequency reading (e.g., 40.00 Hz) confirms the connection has been restored and the error is resolved.
