Gyro Air G-700: Troubleshooting u0.01 Code Displayed on the Screen

Created by Gabriel Izzo, Modified on Fri, 16 May at 12:55 PM by Gabriel Izzo

The u0.01 code on the Gyro Air system's display screen typically indicates a communication issue between the display and the inverter (VFD). This issue is most commonly caused by a loose, damaged, or faulty Ethernet (RJ45) cable connection—either at the rear of the screen or at the front of the inverter inside the electrical box.

The Ethernet cable used in this system contains 8 pins, with some delivering power and others handling data transmission. If certain data pins lose contact, the screen may still power on but will be unable to exchange information with the inverter, triggering the u0.01 error.

Recommended Troubleshooting Steps

To identify whether the problem originates from the screen, the inverter port, or the cable itself, follow the steps below:

1. Inspect the Screen Connection

  • Remove the four screws securing the display screen.
  • Gently remove the screen from its mount.
  • Visually inspect the RJ45 (Ethernet) port on the back of the screen for any visible damage or looseness.
  • Disconnect and reconnect the Ethernet cable, inspecting it for any visible damage and ensuring a firm click when reseating the connector.
  • With the system powered on, gently wiggle the connection while watching the screen:
    • If the display changes from u0.01 to a frequency reading (e.g., 40.00 Hz), the issue is likely related to a weak connection or cable issue.

2. Inspect the Inverter Connection

⚠️ Important: Always turn off the main power before proceeding.

  • Turn the main power switch to the OFF position and unplug the machine from the power source.

  • Remove the rear panel that encloses the switch by unscrewing it.
  • Remove the screws on the electrical box cover.
  • Inside the electrical box, locate the inverter (usually on the left-hand side).
  • Inspect the Ethernet cable connection where it plugs into the front of the inverter.
  • Disconnect and reconnect this cable, ensuring the plug is fully seated and no visible damage is present.

  • Turn the power switch stem back to the ON position using a wrench or appropriate tool.

  • Check if the screen now displays a normal frequency reading instead of the u0.01 code.
