Setup Tips for Accurate Results
Set the kerf accurately. When measuring the dado kerf, make sure the kerf amount is set correctly — any inaccuracy here will cause a slight discrepancy in the final joint.
Measure the mating piece. When measuring the workpiece, always measure the thickness of the mating piece. For a half-lap joint: measure Workpiece B's width to cut the half-lap on Workpiece A, and vice versa.
Adjust for fit tolerance. The Kerfmaker produces press-fit joints by default. For a slip fit, shim a piece of paper when measuring the workpiece. Clamping pressure when measuring will also affect tolerance — lighter clamping produces a looser fit.
