Turbo T60S Wood Lathe: Comparator Assembly Explained

The comparator is a perfect accessory for woodturners who do spindle work. Spindle work may not be challenging for the first spindle but turning the subsequent ones to match can be a lot more challenging, and if you're doing two, three or four or more copies of the same spindle, sometimes you'll want to refer back to an original template and the comparator bracket's profiling centers hold the position of the original on the lathe allowing you to easily reference it while turning for easier duplication. You can even take a set of calipers and measure the workpiece in comparison to the template for higher precision.

If you're doing a lot of spindle work you can leave the profiling centers parts 508/509 on the lathe, but if you're not doing a lot of spindle of work, it might be a good idea to store these in a drawer to prevent bumping into these while not in use as the points are sharp.
